Crunching the numbers: Pheko Tsotetsi’s Siyandisa journey

10 November 2024 178

Pheko Tsotetsi’s journey is one of determination, growth, and gratitude. He hails from Qwaqwa, a small town in the Eastern Free State, where his path to success was shaped by an incredible opportunity he received in 2017—an opportunity that changed his life.

In that year, Pheko joined the Siyandisa Family, a decision that would prove to be important in his success during his matric year. The foundation didn’t just offer resources; it opened doors to a world of support and guidance. Siyandisa provided students, like Pheko, with tablets, data, educational videos, and, perhaps most importantly, valuable connections that continue to support him to this day.

After matriculating with a sense of accomplishment, Pheko pursued an undergraduate degree in Analytics, with an Honours in Statistics, at the University of Cape Town. His journey didn’t stop there—he is now working toward his Master’s in Risk Management of Financial Markets at the same prestigious university.

Along the way, Pheko was also fortunate to join a three-year graduate programme at one of South Africa’s leading banks, an opportunity that has broadened his horizons and strengthened his professional development.

Reflecting on his journey, Pheko believes that it is only after graduation that you truly understand the value of those long hours and sleepless nights. All the effort was absolutely worth it. And to all current and future Siyandisa Achievers, Pheko has this advice to offer: “Stay focused on your ultimate goal. Each sleepless night is an investment in your future. With Siyandisa, you have a strong support system behind you. Embrace every opportunity with all your heart and make the most of the resources at your disposal. Good luck with your matric year. Remember, everything you set your mind to is within reach. Live, love, laugh, and always keep learning.”

Pheko's story is a testament to the power of dedication, support, and the belief that with the right opportunities, dreams are not just achievable—they are waiting to be realised.
