Each year, as the new calendar unfolds, South Africa collectively leans forward in anticipation of the Matric results. It is a season defined by heightened emotion, the nervous energy of learners, the quiet hope of families, and the shared national investment in educational success. For the Siyandisa Achievers Programme, this moment is both reflective and celebratory: a time to honour the end of a demanding chapter and to recognise the extraordinary resilience, discipline, and promise of our learners.

While the Matric results period is universally nerve-wracking, it is also profoundly affirming. Across the country, Grade 12 learners reach the culmination of their high school journeys, and we stand proudly alongside them. Within the Siyandisa Achievers Programme, that pride is amplified by the knowledge that our learners come from diverse contexts, across hills and valleys, rural and urban spaces, and have consistently defied the odds to realise their academic potential.

By the numbers: An exceptional class
The Class of 2025 has done just that, delivering an exceptional performance that reflects both individual excellence and collective strength. This cohort achieved:

• an outstanding total of 291 distinctions.
• an almost perfectly balanced distribution between male learners, who earned 145 distinctions, and female learners, who earned 146 distinctions.
• on average, each Achiever attained 5.82 distinctions, underscoring the depth and consistency of academic achievement across the programme.
  

Representing six of South Africa’s nine provinces, the Class of 2025 is a powerful illustration of nationally rooted excellence. 

Top performers setting the pace
Our top performers stand as exemplars of this success.

• Tumane Mokoena from the Free State secured Position 5, achieving an overall average of 90% with six distinctions.
• Position 4 was shared by five outstanding learners — Xhanti Hlangabezo, Isisipho Mhlakaza, and Buhle Mtembu from the Eastern Cape, alongside Pholosho Ramanaledi and Masejaro Kgolane from Limpopo — all attaining an impressive 91% average.
• Position 3 was claimed by Musa Shiluvana from Limpopo with an overall average of 92%, followed by
• Sesona Masingili from the Eastern Cape in Position 2, achieving 93%.

Our top performers
At the pinnacle of this remarkable cohort are our joint top performers. Khayelihle Mhlongo from Gauteng and Ndivhuweni Fhedzisani from Limpopo both achieved an exceptional 94% overall average, each earning seven distinctions, a truly outstanding accomplishment.

Provincial performance further highlights the strength of the programme, with average results as follows: Gauteng at 91%, Limpopo at 89.58%, Eastern Cape at 86.79%, Free State at 84.23%, and KwaZulu-Natal at 82.25%.

As we celebrate the Class of 2025, we do so with clear strategic intent. Through our growing partnerships with industry and higher education, we are committed to supporting our Achievers as they transition into universities and beyond, equipping them to confidently occupy academic, economic, and executive spaces. We cheer them on as they step into their futures, knowing that they are not only succeeding, but deliberately and unapologetically taking up space.
